What Is Metro?
We will soon be accepting registrations for the Fall Metro League. This league is designed for Del Dayo Soccer Club players who were registered in Fall 2025 and includes the following age groups:
- U10 (birth years 2015 & 2016)
- U12 (birth years 2013 & 2014)
What is the Metro League?
The Metro League is a program organized by District 6 Soccer (Sacramento), where teams from member leagues compete against other clubs in the region. Unlike recreational soccer, Metro is a Select program, meaning players are chosen by the coach rather than being assigned by registration alone.
For Del Dayo Soccer Club, Metro provides an opportunity for players who are not yet ready or able to commit to a year-round competitive program but still want to develop their skills and compete at a higher level. It is an excellent option for multi-sport athletes or players seeking a more challenging experience without the full demands of competitive club soccer.
How Are Metro Teams Formed?
During registration, players and coaches can choose to be considered for Metro teams. However, opting in does not guarantee selection. If you are not chosen for a Metro team, you will be placed on a recreational team within your age group.
- Coaches are reviewed and selected by Del Dayo Soccer
- Club Coaches will then select players from eligible candidates
- Some teams may hold tryouts or evaluation sessions to assist in player selection
Costs & Uniforms
There are no additional costs to participate in Metro during the Fall season. Metro teams wear the same uniforms as all Del Dayo teams, and Metro league entry fees and home referee costs are covered. Coaches for Metro teams are volunteers and are not paid.
Season Format & Games
Metro teams are formed shortly after registration.
- Seeding Tournament: July
- Season Begins: Mid-August
- Games: 8-10 matches (approximately half home, half away)
- Home Games: Played at Del Dayo
- Away Games: Hosted at other clubs' home fields around Sacramento and the surrounding areas
Coaching Requirements
All Metro coaches must have or be actively enrolled in a US Soccer Grassroots Coaching License for the appropriate format (7v7, 9v9, or 11v11).
Additional Tournaments & Uniforms
Metro teams may choose to participate in tournaments throughout the year at their own expense. These tournaments can be local or out of town and are entirely up to the team's discretion to enter and compete in.
