The U6 program is run by the Del Dayo Soccer Club, where teams only play other Del Dayo Soccer Club teams at Del Dayo on Friday evenings. The goal is to create a fun, social and non-competitive environment for the kids and families to enjoy and play some soccer.
The U6 Coordinator this season is Jenielle Levin. Parents are welcome to email her with any questions.
Please see our Programs page for key dates.
U6 Coaches:
Coaching U6 is fun, hectic, hilarious, and rewarding. If you can get all the kids running in the same direction, you are doing a tremendous job! Each team is encouraged to have multiple coaches, as this makes it easier to break up the practices into smaller groups, which is ideal for teaching.
Please consider coaching- it will be an experience you will never forget.
There will be a MANDATORY general coaches’ informational meeting each year – coaches will be emailed by the Coaching Coordinator with details.
There will also be an additional U6 coaches’ meeting just prior to the Scrimmage Night Jamboree to discuss field equipment and set-up.
Team Parents:
Team Parents are essential for every team. They organize game snacks, order team banners, organize the end-of-season team party, and order the team trophies. Please consider assisting your team by volunteering to be a Team Parent.
Pre-Season:
The U6 Jamboree is our way to kick off the season. These games start at 5:30pm and end around 7:00pm. Each team will likely play three 20-minute games against different teams on different fields. It is a festive atmosphere and a lot of fun.
Scrimmage Night was started to help the new U6 coaches orient themselves to how the fields are set up and running a game. Our Referee Coordinator uses it for training our new U6 referees.
The Games:
The games are played 4 v 4 with no goalie. The fields are shortened with cones, and the goals are smaller. The coaches will set up and tear down the fields. Each game will be 40 minutes and substitutions are freely allowed. No official scores or standings are kept. Each player should play at least half of each game.
The referee will make sure that each child is wearing shin guards, determine possessions, keep running time, direct the game, and ensure player safety. Most other soccer rules will not be strictly enforced for this age group.
The games are played on Friday evenings at Del Dayo against other Del Dayo teams. The schedules will be posted late August.
Fields:
The U6 fields will be set up each Friday night with the cones and flags in the shed. The field configurations are on the Fields tab for U6 as well.
